Reporting a crash
Tell us what you were doing immediately before it happened, your macOS version and your Mac model. That is usually enough to find it. Please do not send a plan file unless we ask — we would rather not have your data.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my plans saved?
On your Mac, automatically, every time you change something. There is nothing to save and no account to create. Everything lives in one file inside the app's own sandboxed container, at ~/Library/Containers/com.inventbetter.arti/Data/Documents/arti_db.sqlite. If you back your Mac up with Time Machine, your plans are in the backup.
How do I draw a room?
Choose the room tool in the left toolbar, then click and drag on the grid. A short animation shows the gesture the first time you use it. For an L-shape or any irregular outline, use the free-form tool and click vertex by vertex.
How do I add a door or a window?
Pick a door, window or passage from the toolbar and click on the wall where you want it. It cuts a real opening — in the 2D plan and in the 3D model. Drag it along the wall afterwards to move it, and use the properties panel on the left to change its style or width.
How do I switch to 3D?
The 2D/3D control is at the far left of the top bar. In 3D, “Hide walls” in the Camera section drops every wall so you can read the whole layout at once, and “walk” moves you through the plan at eye level using the arrow keys.
How do I export my plan?
The export button is in the top bar, in 2D and in 3D. You get a PNG image, framed as you see it on screen, saved wherever you choose — ready to send to a builder, an architect or a landlord.
Does Arti work offline?
Completely. There is no account, no sync and no server. The only time Arti uses the network at all is to send an anonymous crash report if something goes wrong, and the app works normally if you block that.
Can I change the language?
Yes — Settings → Language. Arti ships in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and follows your system language by default.
Is my plan accurate enough for a builder?
It is accurate enough to discuss with one, and not accurate enough to order materials from. Arti draws exactly the dimensions you enter, so its accuracy is your tape measure's accuracy. Any professional will re-measure before quoting. Arti is not a substitute for a survey and its areas are not a legally valid statement of floor area.
I found a bug, or I have an idea.
Please write — bug reports and feature requests both go to contact@artiplans.com. If it is a crash, saying what you were doing just before it happened is worth more than anything else you can send.
How do I stop crash reports being sent?
Settings → Send crash reports. Turn it off and nothing is sent. A firewall such as Little Snitch or LuLu blocking Arti's access to crashlyticsreports-pa.googleapis.com also works. See the privacy policy for exactly what a report contains.
Privacy and your data
Arti has no account and stores your plans only on your Mac. The one thing that ever leaves your machine is an anonymous crash report. The full detail — what it contains, what is stripped out of it, how long it is kept and what your rights are — is in the privacy policy.
