Arti is not made for a phone yet

Open this on a desktop and you can use the whole editor in your browser — nothing to install, no account. The Mac app is free on the App Store.

What Arti does not do

Free is only meaningful alongside the limits, so here they are.

macOS only

No Windows, no Linux, no iPad and no phone. If you need any of those, Arti will not help you — it is a Mac app and that is not changing.

No cloud, no collaboration

Plans live on your Mac. Nobody else can open one while you work on it, and there is no sync between machines.

No CAD export

You get a PNG image, not a DWG, DXF or SVG. Fine for sending to a builder; not fine as a drafting input.

Not a measuring instrument

Arti draws the dimensions you type. It does not check building regulations, and its areas are not a legally valid statement of floor space.

Frequently asked questions

Is Arti really free?

Yes. There is no purchase, no subscription, no in-app purchase and no trial period. The app on the Mac App Store is the complete app, and it costs nothing.

Do I need an account?

No. Arti has no account system at all — there is no sign-up, no email to hand over and no login. It opens on an empty plan and works immediately, offline.

What is the catch?

There isn't one in the usual sense, but the honest limits are worth stating: Arti is macOS only, it has no cloud or collaboration, and it exports a PNG rather than a CAD file. It is free because it is small and local, not because it is subsidised by your data — there is no advertising, no tracking and no analytics.

Will it stay free?

The version you have will. If a paid option is ever added, it will be announced with its own terms, and we will not switch off a feature you already had or lock you out of plans you already made.

Are my exports free to use commercially?

Yes, entirely and with no royalty. Plans, exports and images you produce are yours — including the furniture and materials in them, which are all CC0 or made for this project. You do not need our permission, and you do not have to write “made with Arti” anywhere: an export already carries a small Arti mark in the corner, and that is the whole of the credit we ask for.

How do you make money then?

At the moment, we don't. Arti is made by one person and is free on the Mac App Store. If that changes it will be through an optional paid feature, not by introducing advertising or by collecting and selling data — the app has no mechanism for either, and adding one would contradict the privacy policy.

Nothing to decide. It is free.
