Arti

Features

What Arti does, and what it does not.

A floor plan editor built for one job: getting the layout of a real home out of your head and onto a plan you can look at, walk through and send to someone. Everything below is in version 1.8.1 today.

Drawing

Rooms you drag out, not coordinates you type

Pick the room tool and drag on the grid. Walls take real thickness, dimensions read out in metres as you go, and every edge can be dragged afterwards. For an L-shape or anything less regular, the free-form tool takes it vertex by vertex.

  • Rectangular rooms and free-form polygons
  • Walls with real, adjustable thickness
  • Live dimensions and per-room area in m²
  • Rooms snap to each other so shared walls actually meet
  • Alignment guides while you drag

Doors and windows

Openings that cut the wall for real

A door is not a symbol painted on a line. Drop one on a wall and it removes that stretch of wall in the 2D plan and in the 3D model, with a header above it and a sill under a window. More than twenty joinery styles ship with the app.

  • Doors, windows, French windows and open passages
  • 20+ joinery styles, in several timber and paint finishes
  • Swing direction drawn correctly in 2D
  • A door on a shared wall appears from both rooms
  • Openings move along their wall by dragging

Furniture

244 pieces, at their real dimensions

Beds, sofas, tables, kitchen units, bathrooms, desks, storage, radiators, lighting and garden furniture. Each one carries the dimensions of the real object, so a sofa that does not fit on the plan will not fit in the room.

  • 244 models, drawn in 2D and modelled in 3D
  • Resize, rotate and tint any piece
  • Wall-mounted items stay attached to their wall
  • Nothing passes through a partition
  • Every asset is CC0 or made for this app — see Credits

Materials

Floors and walls you can actually finish

Thirty-five tileable materials — oak, parquet, tile, marble, brick, concrete, carpet — applied per room, on the floor and on the walls, with a per-room tint when one space should read differently from the next.

  • 35 materials, on floors and on walls
  • Per-room tint over any material
  • Applied per room, not globally
  • Visible in 2D as well as in 3D

3D

The same plan, standing up

One control switches between the plan and the model — it is the same data, not an export. Orbit it from outside, hide every wall at once to read the layout at a glance, or drop into walk mode and move through the rooms at eye height.

  • Orbit, pan and zoom the whole model
  • “Hide walls” clears every wall in one click
  • Walk mode at eye level, on the keyboard
  • Furniture, materials and openings all carry through

Floors

A house is rarely one level

Build the storeys the house actually has, up to 3 in a plan. Duplicate one to start the next from the same footprint, reorder them, and rename them — the names follow the plan wherever it goes.

  • Create, duplicate, reorder and rename storeys — up to 3 per plan
  • Duplicating a floor copies its rooms and layout
  • Each floor keeps its own furniture and materials

Export

Something you can send to somebody

Export the 2D plan or the 3D view as a PNG image, framed as you see it on screen. It goes wherever you put it on your disk — ready for an email to a builder, an architect or a landlord.

  • PNG export from both 2D and 3D
  • Framed exactly as shown on screen
  • Saved wherever you choose — nothing is uploaded

Being straight with you

What Arti is not

Not a measuring instrument

Arti draws the dimensions you enter. It does not check building regulations, structural loads, fire codes or accessibility rules, and it will happily draw something that could not be built. It is not a substitute for a survey, an architect's drawing or an engineer's calculation, and a plan from it is not a legally valid statement of floor area.

Not everything, yet

macOS only — no Windows, Linux, iPad or phone. No cloud, no collaboration and no shared links today. No CAD export: you get a PNG, not a DWG or an SVG. And no import of an existing plan or a scanned drawing.

Free, and free of sign-up.

Download it and draw your first room in about a minute.
